Keeping Your Kids Active

If you are a parent, there is the possibility that you worry about your children becoming overweight or even obese. Indeed, this worry is an understandable one. Recent studies have shown that the number of overweight preschoolers has doubled over the past decade. This statistic can be frightening to parents. However, there are many things parents can do to help their children avoid obesity. One of the most important things is to make sure your children are eating a balanced diet. But perhaps the most important thing of all is making sure you encourage an active lifestyle.

There are many things you can do to encourage your children to be active. You can encourage them to play games outside with their friends. Playing games like tag, hide and seek, or kick the can will have them being active while having fun.

Another thing you can do to encourage your children to be active is to limit TV time. Although it is extremely easy to turn on the TV time and let your children watch, TV does not help children actively learn and it certainly does not help them to be physically active. Allow your children to watch TV, just limit the time they sit in front of the tube.

Another way to keep your kids active is to assign them chores. Make sure you’re not overloading your children with chores, but make sure that they’re helping the house stay neat and tidy as well. Explain to them that they need to do their part in keeping the house clean.

Many parents worry about their kids becoming obese. By following these simple tips, parents can greatly affect the general health and well-being of their children.
